Book AR Display
Introducing Kindle Serendipity: AR Book Display for avid readers on the lookout for their next captivating read. Designed to sit stylishly on your coffee table, Serendipity ignites your reading journey even before you pick up your iPad or Kindle.
In e-book stores, books are presented in thumbnails, showing the covers of their physical counterparts. However, this presentation often reduces the pleasure of browsing books into flickering an endless feed. How can we recreate the discovery process of physically browsing books in the e-book experience?

I conducted interviews with six passionate book readers who regularly utilize e-book readers. By delving into their preferences and contrasting their experiences with physical books, I aimed to unearth unarticulated needs and gain insights into what draws people to the physicality of traditional books.
Imagine having a dedicated object with an always-on display for book recommendation, where every time you walk past it, new covers of books capture your attention. Once the book catches your interest, you can head over to Serendipity and explore a preview, allowing you to decide whether to save the book to your Kindle. With Kindle Serendipity, the joy of discovering new books seamlessly merges with the convenience of digital reading.
Serendipity introduces an additional side display that showcases the spine of books, providing a sense of volume which was missing from flat-screen book presentation. Not only does it provide a unique aesthetic appeal, but it also ensures enhanced visibility when placed on bookshelves.
With two displays showcasing the cover and spine of each book in their actual size, Serendipity replicates the physical presence and dimensions of traditional paper books. Its versatile design accommodates books of all types, while its triangular profile offers a comfortable grip and a distinctive, sharp look. Experience the future of digital reading with Kindle Serendipity.
